Our first full day in Vancouver was busy and fun. We began at the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, a great place to see and experience God’s amazing and beautiful creation all around us. I’m sure you have seen the fantastic photos flooding Facebook and Instagram from our group!
Lunch was next on the agenda, provided by Sandra & Kim, of course – Mexican Stack Up! After lunch, we had an hour-long rehearsal and sound-check to help us be ready for THREE concerts on Sunday and TWO on Monday – we love to stay busy!
After rehearsal, many of us went to Canada Place to do a little shopping and sight-seeing, then back to the Westlynn Baptist Church (our hosts) to prepare for our major painting project that begins in earnest on Monday morning.
The rest of the group went to serve at a block party with one of our North American Mission Board church planters, Pastor Shahid, for a new and quickly growing South Asian Community Congregation in Surrey, British Columbia. We offered face-painting, balloon animals, bounce house, soccer, frisbee, snacks to a crowd that started small and then grew to well over 150 people. Pastor Shahid was able to meet and spend time many new people as well as his congregants while we manned the activities for the block party. This church is seeing conversions on a consistent basis and baptizing new believers. It’s exciting to join them – even for one day!
We are looking forward to leading worship for three different congregations tomorrow, beginning at 10:30 am at Westlynn Baptist Church with Pastor Brent preaching.
